In Less Than 30 Minutes I Discovered...

By scrolling around on twitter and looking at the profiles of some leading educators and their organizations I discovered these five things...

  1. A video about Learning with Video Games As retweeted by Alan November (@globalearner) on October 17, 2017. I personally thought it was interesting how Gee related video games to books, I would have never in a million years made that connection. Honestly, before watching this video I thought video games were useless mind dulling wastes of time.
  2. I learned how to screen cast with the app Office Mix due to a tutorial created and shared by Vicki Davis (@coolcatteacher). This is really beneficial for showing students how to do a variety of editing techniques in graphic design programs such as Adobe Illustrator.
  3. A new App that helps build fine motor control skills for young children called "Little Digits" a review of that App was pinned on the time line of Mark Anderson (@ICTevangelist). I think its interesting that the app is able to help children strengthen their fine motor skills without playing with physical objects.
  4. A simple 7 step guide that gives instruction on how to process and use data gathered in the classroom due to a chart tweeted by Alex Corbitt (@alex_corbitt). The chart easily details out how to take information gathered in the classroom and make it functional and apply it to guiding future instruction.
  5. Due to a post by @HowardsGroveSD shared by Laura Fleming (@LFlemingEDU) I was given the idea that Makerspaces can really be leveraged and used at times such as indoor recess. It doesn't have to just be a place for random creativity that the students seek out themselves but it can be used for set aside time created by the teachers or even maybe could be used as an option for alternative recess.
Overall, twitter is a great resource to quickly find and discover new tools for online education and a great way to connect with other educators and see whats forming in the educational world.
